Research and Citizen Science

Taiwan is well known for its academic rigor. It is also one of the best places in the world for research and citizen science, with the TWBF coordinating many of these efforts. Here is a list of some of the primary areas the TWBF manages or plays a major role in:

-Manager of the Taiwan Bird Database (with 40 years of recorded data)

-Co-manager of eBird Taiwan (since 2015)

-Co-organizer of Taiwan’s Breeding Bird Survey

-Main organizer of the New Year’s Bird Count (Taiwan’s version of the Christmas Bird Count)

-Main organizer of Taiwan’s Black-faced Spoonbill Survey

-Manager and liaison of Taiwan’s bird banding materials
